I gotta be honest, I never thought I would be writing a blog. I'm not a blogger...well, I guess I am now, but I hadn't thought of it until now, so apologies if this isn't your typical blog page: this is my first time.
The reason I am writing this is because one of my best friends is getting married. Since I'm a wedding photographer, I thought it was fitting for me to start here, since I had the opportunity to do her engagement photos this past week.
We decided to do her session on a snowy day, and let's be honest, we've had a ton of snow, so we were good to go! Our destination was David Fortier Park, just 10 mins from my house and our goal was to time it for the coveted "Golden Hour". Welp, if you live in Cleveland, you know the sun only graces its presence about 60 days out of the year and by the time we trudged through the snow, down the hill into the park there was nearly no sun left. It had snuck behind the trees and under the clouds; Golden Hour never had a chance.
I took a look around the park and noticed the gorgeous bluish hue that covered the sparkling white snow and realized...we may have missed golden hour, but we totally got BLUE HOUR! It was giving me total Disney's Frozen vibes.
Now let me tell you, I will always love golden hour, it's the most magical time of the day, but blue hour...wow, hard to photograph, but totally magical!!
Now for those of you that don't know, Blue Hour is the time just after Golden Hour and just before Twilight. I swear it's not made up, check this out here. The results are stunning. I love the dusky, dark, and moody look, the almost florescence of the snow and anything in a shade of blue and how beautifully skin tones pop in comparison!
Shooting in this light can be particularly difficult and requires some higher ISO, or off camera lighting, but it's totally worth it! Because of the use of the flash, I was able to get some glowing snow fall and great backlighting shots!
Check out that REAL snow! :)
I digress on the techy stuff!
So, let me tell you 'bout my best friend (and her fiancé):
Allie and Ryan are so adorable and wonderful, they have two beautiful children and are seriously the most supportive couple of each other. Allie is the most genuine person I have ever met and I am not exaggerating. She and I met in nursing school and she's incredibly hard working, honest, undercover super smart and probably one of the funniest people I know. I love her to death. I'm super excited to see her marry the love of her life and truly hope for nothing be amazing things for her future, she totally deserves it!
Check out their photos and spread the love by sharing or commenting!!
So...since this is my very first blog post, please comment below anything! I mean, give me some love! I really want to know what you think of this Blue Hour photoshoot!
Is it tacky to be the first to comment on a blog post that I'm featured in? Whatever, I'm going to do it anyways.
You're incredibly talented and I loved the blog (not just because it made me ugly cry).
P.S. Don't mind me. I'll just be here waiting to read your next blog.
